The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) is preparing to launch the 9th edition of Sharjah Food Festival which will take place from 25th of March to 4th of April 2015.The festival will take place in four of the Emirate's premier leisure and tourism destinations: Al Qasba, Al Majaz Waterfront, Heart of Sharjah, and Al Montazah, after being held in Al Qasba in the last eight years.
The 11-day culinary event will include many exciting activities for all members of the family such as regional and international celebrity chef demonstrations at live cooking stations, cooking contests for adults and youngsters, live entertainment, and the opportunity to sample the best examples of the world's favourite cuisines The festival's activities will include demonstrations by international celebrity chefs, ice carving and fruit carving competitions and cake decorations alongside many food and recipes related contests, games and quizzes for all members of family. In addition, there will be celebrities cooking competitions, and other cooking competitions for government employees, schools and universities' students, live music performance platforms, weekend market, food carts. The festival will host stands for restaurants serving various types of cuisines from around the world.
Speaking on the occasion, Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, Chief Operating Officer at Shurooq, said: "The Food Festival has been highly successful over the last 8 years and has gained a widespread fame and popularity inside the UAE and abroad, thanks to the great efforts exerted by Shurooq staff to ensure the festival is well organised, and the large scale participation from supporting companies and top chefs who visit Sharjah for the festival from all over the world. Therefore, its activities have received public attention and recognition. In response to this increasing popularity, we have decided to rename the festival as the Sharjah Food Festival and to expand its venues to make the festival and its activities accessible to all Sharjah residents and visitors, alike." Aspiring cooks, food companies and outlets are invited to participate in the Sharjah Food Festival.
