BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) has recently opened the newly built north section of its automotive plant in Dadong/Shenyang, China. The first long-wheelbase version of the new BMW 5 Series Sedan rolled off the production line during the opening ceremony. The northern extension comprises all production areas of a full plant and boasts a highly-advanced production system with the latest sustainability standards. With its two production locations in Dadong and Tiexi, BBA will have a total annual capacity of up to 450,000 units. “The Dadong plant demonstrates the success of our joint venture and the BMW 5 Series in China,” said Nicolas Peter, a member of the board of management of BMW AG responsible for finance, at the opening ceremony in China.
• Rolls-Royce displayed a modern coach-built Rolls-Royce at a special event recently. That vehicle is named “Sweptail” in a nod to the swept-tail of certain Rolls-Royces from the 1920s. Presenting the car to the media at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este last week, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, chief executive officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said: “Sweptail is a truly magnificent car. It exudes the romance of travel for its own sake and immediately places “Sweptail” in the pantheon of the world’s great intercontinental tourers. Rolls-Royce’s history as the world’s leading coachbuilder is at the very core of its identity as the world’s leading luxury brand.
• Abdullah Hashim Co. Ltd., the sole distributor for Honda products in Saudi Arabia, has announced the official launch of the new fifth generation CR-V at AHCL Head Office in Jeddah. The completely redesigned and reengineered 2017 CR-V boasts of a bold new style, a more premium interior and a host of new features and technologies aimed at enhancing CR-V’s status as the outright benchmark in the highly popular compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) segment. The new CR-V targets the highest levels of quality and driving refinement in its class with top-class steering precision, ride comfort, body control and cabin quietness. The New CR-V comes in four grades DX and LX in two-wheel drive (2WD), EX and touring in all-wheel drive (AWD).
• Cadillac and Liberty, the UAE’s dealer of the premium brand, have announced a series of exclusive offers on 2017 models will be available to all customers across the UAE during Ramadan. Rimoun Hanouch, Liberty’s group general manager said: “On behalf of Liberty automobiles, we would like to wish all of our customers a blessed Ramadan. We are proud to announce these exceptional offers to our customers during this month.”
