Sheikh Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan last night launched an array of 4-wheel-drive models at the Emirates National Auto Museum (ENAM) in the first major addition to the facility since it was opened in 2004.
Sheikh Hamad stated that one of the main objectives of showcasing these brand new vehicles is to provide technical support to consumers about best models available on the market taking into consideration that these cars are low cost and free of electronics.
The museum, he said, helps potential buyers to select their favourite car more easier in terms of convenient price and availability of safety and security requirements.
Located 40 km south of Abu Dhabi, the amazing ENAM houses the private collection of Sheikh Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan with approximately 230 exhibition items.
The museum houses different types of cars: classic, sports, military, trucks, unusual cars. Some of the cars are customized for Sheikh Hamad. Exhibits are unique because of their colour, size and shape. The collection also houses a vast array of US classic cars and other off-road vehicles.
Visitors will find several Mercedes, one in each colour of the rainbow for each day of the week. And they are all fitted with conveniences such as refrigerators and TV.
One of the most amazing exhibits is the 1950s Dodge Power Wagon. This truck was helping people in the beginning of the oil era, so Sheikh Hamad built a kind of a monument: the largest truck in the world. All the pieces of the truck were built in Abu Dhabi and then assembled in the desert. It is 5m high 8m wide and it weighs around 50 tons. The biggest truck has also a biggest caravan; a size of 4-story building. The caravan is in the Guinness Book of World records.
A number of Sheikhs and representatives of auto agencies in the UAE attended the event.
