Corvette C7 Stingray
Here in the PH office, we’re unashamed fans of the latest Corvette C7 Stingray. It’s been created by real enthusiastswith some genuinely advanced tech, it will cost £61,495 in Britain and looks fantastic to our eyes. In fact
, as the styling goes, we probably wouldn’t change a thing, bar maybe the outlandish exhausts. But today Callaway has confirmed the AeroWagon conversion will be put on sale, and we’re rather taken by it. Sure, it won’t be to all tastes, but the audacity is admirable and it appears a pretty successful transformation in the pics.
The structure of the shooting brake (hatch sounds a bit common, don’t you think?) conversion is made from carbon fibre using a resin transfer moulding process. Google is your friend for the latter; in our layman’s terms it means a strong and light hatch.
Callaway will only undertake AeroWagon conversions in the US, where each will cost $16,500 (£10,198). That’s $15,000 (£9,271) for the bodywork mods and then $1,500 (£927) for a matching body colour. It should be fairly clear it isn’t a regular Corvette without leaving it unpainted!
And for those who favour Corvettes as just regular and very fast two door coupes, Callaway has also confirmed a supercharger package. With additional upgrades to the intake and exhaust, Callaway is promising a top speed of over 200mph. The supercharger costs $22,995 (£14,212). By our maths, that makes a brand-new supercharged Callaway Corvette AeroWagon $90,500 (£55,936) in America. Bargain...
