The Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman has received the 2015 Outstanding Achievement Award in the Geographic Information Systems field at an awards ceremony that was held in California.
Yahya Ibrahim Al-Reyaysa, Director-General of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, explained that the Ajman Maps Smart Gate Application is what helped secure the win for the department. He explained that the application is a comprehensive geographical data and information source about the emirate with several properties such as the new aerial view, viewing spatial statistics and extracting spatial and engineering information.
Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al-Muhairi, Executive Director of the Engineering Affairs Sector of the Department, said, "The application provides important and sensitive information to decision-makers, security agencies and strategic partners of the department, most notably the Land Department and Real Estate Regulation and Civil Defence as well as the police in order for the security agencies to benefit from the information provided by the application to complete their procedures, and to help decision-makers on large construction projects, providing them with statistics and geographic studies."
Al-Reyaysa added that the award was obtained as a result of the projects undertaken as a way to implement the department's vision, under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, and his keenness to keep the Emirate of Ajman distinguished among peers and to keep pace with the process of urbanisation and modernisation in various fields.
