LA porn media industry temporarily shut down following HIV scare
Los Angeles – Arab Today
Porn producers in Los Angeles say they have halted production after an actress apparently tested positive this week for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
The actress\' talent agency identified her Thursday as a 28-year-old who acts under the name Cameron Bay, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Citing a report in the porn industry trade publication AVN Media Network, the Times said Bay has confirmed a preliminary test result indicated she may be infected. Mark Schechter, who owns the management agency Adult Talent Managers LA, told the Times results from Bay\'s regularly scheduled sexually transmitted disease screening on Monday were inconclusive but preliminary results from a second test Tuesday indicated she may be HIV-positive.
More tests will be performed, and results are expected by early next week, he said.
\"Any time any performer tests (positive) to any STD,\" he said, \"there are always additional tests to rule out any false positives or contamination.\"
The porn industry trade group Free Speech Coalition called for the moratorium Wednesday.
Bay\'s most recent test prior to this week was July 27, when she tested negative for STD, Schechter said.
