News UK to provide digital coverage of Barclays Premiere League
London – Arab Today
News UK, publisher of The Sun and The Times has signed a 10-month deal with Absolute Radio in a bid to promote the newspapers’ screening of the Barclays Premier League
goal and highlights programme online.
The six-figure deal will give the publisher permanent slot on Saturdays at 5.20pm, and follows Sky Sports extending its sponsorship of the radio’s commentary for another year.
News UK’s digital highlights will receive on-air exposure before and at the end of matches, via spot-ads featured during games.
Former England striker, Ian Wright, Russ Williams and lead commentator Jim Proudfoot will provide the commentary during the station’s ‘Rock\'N\'Roll’ Football programme, which will also be aired on Fridays prior to weekend matches.
Emma Smyth, head of sponsorship at Absolute Radio said, “This commercial partnership with News UK is a fantastic compliment to our fourth Premier League season. With lead sponsor Sky Sports also secured for another year we\'re in great shape and are currently in discussion to fulfil more promotional properties for brand partners within our football offering.\"
Coverage will begin on Saturday August 17 with the match between West Ham v Cardiff City.
