Kuwait to host the Sixth Kuwait Info Security Forum
The State of Kuwait is hosting the Sixth Kuwait Info Security Forum, the premier event for Info Security and Risk and IT professionals, and the 3rd Arabian Social Media Forum, both slated for May 7-8 and organized under the auspices of His Highness
the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
A press statement by head of the organizing committee at ProMedia International Adel Al-Alati Sunday said a host of officials and professionals from ministries and state bodies from the Gulf and Arab region and representatives of local and international corporations would be taking part. The overall objective, he said, is to keep abreast of the latest developments in these fields and shed light on the role of social media in our lives today and their impact and power on society.
The majority of citizens in the Gulf countries use social media and the number of users is still on the rise. Securing these portals is an ever increasing challenge, he added, and people's information is at risk of theft as the saboteurs who hack the sites and portals outsmart, at least initially, the programmers.
Regarding objectives, the Kuwait Info Security Forum aims to, according to ProMedia website, "Provide Awareness of latest technologies and ease exchanging and networking of experiences in the fields of Information & Knowledge management and Decision Making Support to make the best use out of these technologies." Another objective is, to "Formalize procedures to enrich opportunities and develop technical capabilities and skills between participants in the fields of applying Information & Knowledge management and Decision Making Support," and the third is "Promoting and spreading Information and Knowledge management and Decision Making Support training methodologies between participants." An accompanying exhibition "will host local and international companies showing their latest products and services in various fields such as internet security, secure operating systems, security management, virus detection software, access control, authentication, biometrics, intrusion detection system, communication security, data encryption, disaster planning, wireless security, and other products." As for the 3rd Arabian Social Media Forum, organizers say it is a "two-day, tactic-rich event that covers all key issues forgetting the most out of social media networks. The goal is to identify and improve social media and communication strategies, accelerate information flow and drive business performance in enterprise and government.
"This event features keynotes, case studies, workshops, and discussions that provided strategic knowledge, insights, and real world examples on how to successfully plan, implement, and manage your social media plans to achieve your organization's objectives.
"Third Arabian Social Media Forum is a highly strategic and technical forum that aims to bring together leading social media experts to discuss newest technologies, practices, and developments in the field." The details provided on the event indicate that social media areas to be addressed include, "Budgeting Social Media, Video marketing, Social Media tools, Social Media education and training, and Social Media problems/obstacles." There are also discussions and reviews on "How to communicate with Social Media, Social Media on digital devices, Advertising, Geographical strategies, Success stories from social media, Case studies for successful social media commuting and presenting, Social media analysis," and on "How to measure and add value to social media", "Security features and increasing user participation," among other topics.
