Jordan News Agency (Petra)
A training course reviewing English news editing styles kicked off on Saturday at the Jordan News Agency (Petra) Training Centre.
The course, sponsored by Zain, is being held in cooperation with International News Editing (INE),
an international agency specializing in providing services for news agencies around the world.
Trainer Robert Besser of INE will focus on editing local and regional news stories, and present them in a professional manner for English readers.
Participants in the three-day course will also discuss various headline and lead paragraph styles and methods for writing and editing stories, in accordance with the latest journalistic approaches.
Petra Director General Faisal Al Shboul underlined the importance of the training course in polishing the skills of Petra journalists and improving the agency's English news bulletin.
The agency, he added, puts all its potentials and logistics at the service of journalists.
Besser affirmed that Petra journalists have the potential and skills to provide advanced-level news stories.
