University of New England in Tangiers
The campus of the University of New England was inaugurated, on Tuesday in Tangiers, in the presence of US and Moroccan figures mainly the new American ambassador in Rabat Dwight Bush, and governor of the State of Maine Paul LePage
.
The facility, the first of its kind in Morocco, was built over a surface area of 15,000 m2 on the land of the Tangiers American School. The campus, worth 54 million dirhams (6 mln dollars) is made up of two buildings including classrooms, meeting rooms, a residence and a restaurant.
The Tangiers campus offers courses in health, biology, languages (Arabic, French, Spanish and English), history of civilizations, law and other disciplines.
The UNE offers more than 200 courses at undergraduate, postgraduate coursework and higher degree research levels. In 2012 UNE had more than 20,000 current students and 1,200 staff.
