Enactus has named Roberta Annan, a renowned global development consultant, impact investor and philanthropist, as a distinguished final round judge at the Enactus World Cup – a gathering of 3,500 student, business and academic leaders from around the globe who meet to showcase innovative student-led projects utilizing entrepreneurial action. Set against the backdrop of the event will be the Family to Family Conference Series – unique gathering of a select group of influential families that will focus on wealth stewardship and philanthropy across multiple generations. The events will begin on September 28 and continue through September 30 at the Delta Hotel in Toronto, Canada.
“I look forward to taking part in the Enactus World Cup, an event that celebrates entrepreneurism and innovation,” said Annan. “Enactus believes supports student entrepreneurs who have a passion to improve the lives of others and who will one day become our leaders across different sectors. This competition fosters innovation and encourages a focus on results, and I am excited to see what these talented young people have to offer the world!”
Enactus is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring students to improve the world through entrepreneurial action, providing a platform for teams of outstanding university students to create community development projects that put people’s own ingenuity and talents at the center of improving their livelihoods. The final competitors in the Enactus World Cup are qualified individuals from over 70,500 university students from 36 countries. Each team has 17 minutes to showcase their projects of entrepreneurial action that are not only making a difference in the world, but also have the momentum to create new careers, spark business innovation and deliver fresh energy for social impact.
About Roberta Annan
Originally from Ghana, West Africa, Roberta has lived and worked on four continents and founded businesses including Roberta Annan Consulting and Frallain, a charity supporting the empowerment of women within the textile and fashion industry. Roberta is a Senior Advisor at the LJ Partnership and a founding partner of LJ Africa Advisors. Roberta is spearheading LJ Partnership’s strategy to deliver financial services and client solutions across Sub Saharan Africa.
Prior to joining LJ Partnership, Roberta worked for the United Nations where she raised funds and established formidable relationships with prominent individuals, government officials, and HNWI’s. While at the UN, Roberta worked in various capacities within different initiatives such as the South-South News, United Nation Development Program (UNDP) – Community and Adaptation Learning Mechanism, United Nations Global Alliance for ICT and Development (UN-GAID).
Roberta holds a Masters degree (summa cum laude) in Biotechnology from Georgetown University and received a Bachelor’s degree (summa cum laude) in Biochemistry and Biotechnology from Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada. More recently she enrolled in the Program For Leadership Development at the Harvard Business School.
