Biggest fire to affect the country

Moroccan fire-fighters and the army battled to contain a raging wildfire in the Amskerod Forest, in the city of Agadir.
According to sources the fire was biggest
to affect the country. Fouad Assaly, Head of the Forest Protection Department, told Arab Today, that 7 military aircraft in addition to 500 servicemen had been deployed to try to put out the fire.
An unseasonal heat wave was preventing the blaze from being put out, as all surrounding vegetation was tinder dry.
The forestry Commission is investigating the cause of the fire, however its cause is yet unknown.
Residents from neighbouring villages described the incident as a tragedy. Argan trees native to the woodland are an important source of oil used in various cosmetics.
