The drainage and irrigation department of Dubai Municipality is implementing a sewerage system and rainwater drainage project for Al Quoz areas 1,2,3 and 4 at a cost of Dh 84 million and scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2015.
The project comes as part of the vision and strategic directives of Dubai Municipality and as part of its projects and strategy in the preservation of environment, public health and safety, by raising the proportion of areas connected to sewage networks to 100%.
Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, said that the project includes the extension of sewage and storm-water drainage to areas of labour accommodation located in Al Quoz, consisting of stores, warehouses and a variety of industrial workshops, in addition to workers' accommodation and some shops.
"After the project completion, nearly 300 tanks of wastewater collection will be cancelled, which in turn will reduce wastewater trucks and reduce traffic congestion and environmental pollution. 43,000 cubic meters of treated water will contribute to increase 614 hectares in the green areas of the emirate," he added.
