The administration of the Sunni Cultural Centre University in India has launched the "Sheikh Zayed Peace Tree" project which aims to plant one million trees in various parts of India. The move is part of the University's celebration to mark the World Environment Day on the 5th of June.
The administration has planted hundreds of trees in the Knowledge City in the region of Kaithapoyil, which covers nearly 120 acre, where Sheikh Abu Bakr Ahmad, Head of the Sunni Cultural Centre University, planted Sheikh Zayed Peace Tree in the city of Ajmer in Rajasthan.
Sheikh Abu Bakr stressed that to name the project after the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan comes in recognition of the efforts of this sincere leader who transformed the United Arab Emirates from desert to a green oasis.
