H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, today attended the opening of the ministry's Healthcare Programme Week.
The MoFAIC Healthcare programme, which was launched in 2015, aims to provide the best healthcare services for its staff and make a qualitative leap in public health.
Sheikh Abdullah, accompanied by Dr. Abdul Rahim Al Awadhi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Legal Affairs, and Mohammed Mir Al Raesi, Under-Secretary of the ministry, and a number of staff members, donated blood to mark the opening of the Healthcare Programme Week, which is held in collaboration with the Mubadala healthcare, the National Health Insurance Company – Daman, and Zayed Military Hospital.
Al Raesi said this annual event is held in connection with the implementation of the UAE National Agenda in line with the UAE Vision 2021, which calls for a world class healthcare system, capable of minimising the risk of chronic diseases and leading the way for the UAE to become the world's best in healthcare quality.
He added that the ministry urged its staff this year to donate blood for the nation's guardians, in collaboration with the Zayed Military Hospital. He also underlined the ministry's efforts to provide the best healthcare programme for its employees within the UAE and abroad.
He also stressed the importance of the programme's preventive side through adopting a healthy lifestyle that can reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart and artery diseases and encourages smokers to kick the habit.
The ministry has also implemented a health and physical fitness programme, in collaboration with its strategic partners, to encourage employees to undergo regular check-ups and to develop specific treatment plans for each staff member at Cleveland Clinic - Abu Dhabi, Health Point, Imperial College London Diabetes Centre and the health authorities across the country.
