Human Rights and Social Development Minister and Acting Health Minister Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al Baluchi today received Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Funds Board of Trustees' chairman and President of the Qatar International NGOs Support Office. She outlined the services provided for NGOs, stressing their growing potential to promote their communities and contribute to social development. She pointed out the steps undertaken by the ministry to engage civil society organizations. She cited in this regard the establishment of the NGOs-support Centre and the string of facilities enabling them to hold events and activities, in addition to financial grant packages and the excellence award. "NGOs represent the third national economic and social power, right after the private and public sectors", she said. Shaikh Abdulaziz Al-Thani hailed the steps taken by the ministry to further develop the capabilities of civil societies, highlighting keenness to enhance cooperation. Assistant Undersecretary for social development Khalid Abdulrahman Al Kooheji and NGOs director Najwa Janahi attended.
