Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Supervisory Committee for Bahrain Women's Day, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, has honoured Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) now-retired engineer Hanan Al Masqati.
This came on behalf of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women on the occasion of Bahraini Women’s Day, dedicated this year to Bahraini women in the fields of engineering.

The ceremony was attended by Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al Mulla, Shura Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, senior officials and guests.

GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery said the company is proud of its workers and appreciates its older employees for their efforts and sacrifices to setting up the company. He said GPIC had now become a major industrial facility and a symbol of co-operation between Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. He said the Company pays particular attention to its specialized engineers and is keen to encourage them to receive the latest scientific knowledge and training.

Dr. Jawahery congratulated Al Masqati, who has been with the Company since its inception. He said all women engineers have been provided an ideal environment for training, work and creativity. He added they have been able to cope with the challenges of work and had taken advantage of all the opportunities offered by the company for training and advancement. Dr. Jawahery said the Company would never forget its employees who had contributed to its setting up and development.

Dr. Jawahery praised the continuous efforts of Her Royal Highness to protect and sponsor Bahraini women in all fields and said the Bahraini Women’s Day is more than an annual celebration but an activity that highlighted ways and means to renew the status of women in all areas.

Al Masqati expressed appreciation at the honour and thanked Her Royal Highness for enabling them to celebrate and celebrate their achievements. She also thanked the company and all those keen to provide an ideal work environment for employees, especially women, and added they have been recognised for their excellence and decades of hard work.

Al Masqati is one of the first Bahraini engineers and joined the company in 1982. She holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Cairo, and has undergone several training courses within and outside Bahrain. She has also represented the company in forums and specialized conferences.

More than 80 leading engineers in various fields have been honoured on the occasion this year. They have contributed to the establishment and management of engineering offices, various engineering disciplines and sustainability in the profession as well as in specialized engineering disciplines
