His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today met the Republic of India’s Minister of State for External Affairs, Mobashar Jawed Akbar, on the sidelines of the 2017 Manama Dialogue.
During the meeting, His Royal Highness noted the strength of long-standing bilateral ties between India and Bahrain, and spoke of the importance of broadening cooperation to benefit both countries.
His Royal Highness and the Minister of State for External Affairs highlighted the important role played by the Kingdom's comprehensive development programme in delivering on the aspirations of Bahrain's citizens.
His Royal Highness and the Minister of State for External Affairs went on to discuss regional and international issues of common interest.
His Royal Highness praised India’s long-standing efforts combatting terrorism and supporting peace and prosperity on the global level. His Royal Highness went on to stress that extremist ideologies and theocratic regimes have no place in a modern, developed society, and highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between international partners in order to counter the threat posed by these groups.
His Royal Highness and the Minister of State for External Affairs discussed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s long track record of multiculturalism.
For his part, the Indian minister expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet His Royal Highness, and noted His Royal Highness’ important role in strengthening bilateral ties across various fields.
