Qatar’s El Jaish have appointed Romanian Razyan Lucescu (pictured) as their new coach, the Qatar Stars League runners-up announced yesterday. Lucescu, a former coach of the Romanian national team, said he planned to build on El Jaish’s fine inaugural season in top-flight competition and guide them in the Asian Champions League in 2013. “El Jaish have an excellent record having finished second last season and also qualified for the Asian Champions League.“My job is to build on these successes and help them improve,” added the Romanian who took over from Brazilian Pericles Chamusca.El Jaish will be heading off to Austria for a month-long pre-season training camp, and Lucescu said he will use this opportunity to know his players and explain his ‘philosophy’ to them. However, he added that he won’t insist on too many changes because the club finished second in the league and he did not want to disturb the combination.
