State Minister for Planning Affairs, Michel Pharaon, on Tuesday visited Grand Mufti, Sheikh Abdullatif Darian, at Dar-al-Fatwa, for talks over the current situation in Lebanon following the unexpected resignation of Prime Minister Saad Hariri.
A statement by Pharaon’s press office indicated that during the meeting, the Minister had expressed appreciation for Mufti Darian’s follow-up on the national political and governmental crisis.
“During similar difficult times, there is a huge role by the spiritual leaders. Especially in terms of closing national ranks,” the statement quoted Pharaon as stressing.
“The current crisis has multiple facets; on one hand, there is the return of the Prime Minister and it is essential. On the other hand, there is the issue of resignation and designation,” Pharaon said.
The Minister also highlighted the need to resume national dialogue over the defense strategy, calling to “keep Lebanon away from the regional storm
