Scout Leader in Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral Samuel Matthias asserted that the cathedral’s building was not affected from the blast that targeted St Peter and Paul Church (el Boutrosiya) on Sunday morning.
In exclusive statements to MENA, Matthias said that Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese is following up the developments from Greece where he is on a visit.
Matthias added that that the death toll may increase because many injured people are in a critical condition.
He pointed out that most of the victims are women because the blast occurred in women's side in the church.
At least 25 people were killed while 35 injured on Sunday early in a blast that occurred inside the Boutrosiya Church right next to St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Abbasiya.
