HRH Princess Lalla Salma, Chairwoman of the Lalla Salma Association for the Fight against Cancer (ALSC) and goodwill Ambassador of World Health Organization (WHO), presided, on Tuesday at Ibn Sina high school in Beni Mellal, over a ceremony commemorating World No Tobacco Day. On this occasion, HRH the princess heard details about the national and regional results of the programme, “Middle Schools, High Schools and Enterprises without tobacco,” and was briefed about the no tobacco action plan of the Ibn Sina high school. Afterwards, HRH the princess visited, in Ibn Sina high school, a pedagogical club dedicated to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco. HRH also awarded the 2010 prizes to no tobacco high schools, enterprises and hospitals for their efforts to fight smoking. Thus the Lalla Salma prize for the fight against cancer to reward the best educational institution for their efforts to fight smoking was awarded to student Mohamed Ghefou from Ibn Sina high school, while the gold label, “Enterprises Without Tobacco”, went to four enterprises, namely Maroc Télécom, BMCE, Banque populaire and ONCF. The 20th August hospital in Casablanca received the golden label “hospitals without tobacco.” HRH the princess also attended a music performance and a play presented by students of Ibn Sina high school and Al Qods middle school.
