Lebanon\'s opposition leader and former prime minister Saad Hariri broke his leg while skiing in the French alps, doctors said Sunday. Hariri was injured while skiing in powdery snow and was taken on Friday to the American Hospital in Neuilly, near Paris. \"He was treated Saturday morning for a fracture of the tibia. There were two fracture lines and the operation was to reduce the fracture and stabilise his condition,\" said Luc Karsenty, a doctor at the American Hospital. Hariri was expected to stay up to a week in the hospital. Hariri is a son of Rafiq Hariri, a billionaire and former prime minister of Lebanon who was assassinated in 2005. Appointed prime minister of Lebanon in 2009, the younger Hariri completed his term in January 2011 after a third of his ministers resigned. In November, Hariri began using his Twitter page to attack rival Hezbollah and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. He divides his time between France and Saudi Arabia, where his wife and three children live.
