Dubai - Arabstoday

Three New Year’s messages from the Ruler of Dubai were re-tweeted more than 6,000 times by last Monday afternoon. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, also Vice President of the UAE, took to Twitter at 9pm on December 31. He said he hoped this year would be “full of accomplishments, blessings and happiness to you and your loved ones”. He continued in two subsequent tweets. “For 41 years, we’ve gone by a golden rule: each year should be better than the previous one and each achievement stronger than its predecessor,” he wrote. “Although 2012 was a successful year full of significant achievements in the UAE, with God’s help 2013 will be even better and greater.” The messages were sent in Arabic and English and were re-tweeted 6,177 times by 1pm yesterday. The Arabic tweets were re-tweeted 4,529 times and the English tweets repeated 1,648 times. The most popular of the three Arabic tweets – about the UAE’s golden rule of improving – was re-tweeted 2,190 times. The most popular English tweet, in which Sheikh Mohammed wished “accomplishments, blessings and happiness”, was re-tweeted 691 times. The message was later posted on the Ruler’s Facebook page and received more than 15,500 likes in three hours. Followers left more than 1,900 comments, some from as far afield as Nepal, South Africa and Brazil. From The National
