More than 200 types of expired veterinary medicines were found in Sohar and Buraimi, The Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture announced on Sunday.
The Ministry carried out an inspection at some farms and veterinary facilities in the Batinah Governorate. The two day campaign found many expired medicines in Sohar and Buraimi, and the source of the drugs was found to be one of the veterinary companies in Wilayat Barka.
Experts were quick to investigate, and the storage facility of a major company was found to have more than 200 varieties of expired drugs. Experts confiscated the large quantity and recorded them for legal proceedings. The case has been transferred to related authorities in the Sultanate.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries called for all farmers and livestock workers to cooperate with the authorities and deter violators, stressing that they will continue to follow up and monitor farms and veterinary facilities, and stand firm against any law breaches.
