A cafeteria was ordered to close for four days and to pay a fine of Dh3,000 for selling unhygienic food. The name of the cafeteria was not disclosed but sources from the Ras Al Khaimah Municipality said that the cafeteria is located in Al Hamraniya area. The case came into light after three Emarati girls had food poisoning after consuming food prepared at the cafeteria. Mubarak Ali Al Shamsi, Director of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, told Gulf News: \"The mother of the Emirati children lodged a complaint with the municipality against the cafeteria, reporting that her three daughters had food poisoning after eating a meal in the cafeteria, The complaint was referred to the Public Health and Environment at the municipality for further investigations.\" Serious violations He said the inspectors found out that there were serious violations of health regulations by the workers of the cafeteria including lack of hygiene precaution in different stages of food preparation. \"The inspectors found spiders inside the cafeteria, indicating that health standards were not followed,\" he said. Al Shamsi said the civic authority imposes fines against errant food outlets ranging between Dh2,000 to Dh3,000 depend on the type of violation and the outlet. The closure period is also decided according to the nature of the violation and the number of black points incurred by the outlet.
