Dubai - Arabstoday

It has been observed and reported and Hospitals and clinics in the United Arab Emirates lack basic medical equipment and there are often many inexperienced doctors. The Health Care sector in the country has been going downhill for years; losing credibility and focus in many different areas and departments. They are definitely in a need of refurbishment and a wakeup call. Patient care usually lacks the most basic human touch and communication, inefficient emergency services add on to the inadequacy. In addition, a quick look at the numerous complaints from citizens and residents, detailing repeated medical negligence, often inhumane treatment of patients with special needs, and misdiagnosis of complicated conditions all support the claim that our medical services are in decline. Many say that inexperienced doctors are to be blamed for this lack of service professionalism, human touch and delivery. This also applies to nurses and pharmacists as well as other medical personnel. Additionally, in the federally-run hospitals and clinics in the northern emirates patients do not find needed medications. Often imported medications are purchased on a small budget allocated for such an important element of health care. Sometimes, medications are imported from cheap sources, and are often not effective. There have been numerous cases of patient disappointment and complaints in clinics and hospitals all over the country. Many attempt to travel to a different emirate, expecting the healthcare services in Dubai or Abu Dhabi to be more adequate than that in Sharjah or Ajman; only to find that it is shockingly not? What kind of step should be taken to improve the Health Care of the country?
