Production of Johnny Depp's film Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has been shut down in Australia and the crew laid off while he recovers from surgery on his broken wrist in the U.S..
Depp broke his wrist while go-karting the Gold Coast. Filming of the Disney film the fifth in the series - had continued for two weeks, but now needs the star to continue on the 191 million U. S. dollar film.
About 200 of 400 crew members have stood down. The 51-year-old is expected to return to Australia in mid-April when filming begins again.
