Shura delegation yesterday met President of Iceland, Guoni Johannesson, on the sidelines of its participation in the 2017 Women Political Leaders Global Forum being held in Iceland’s Reykjavik.
Head of Shura Woman and Child Affairs Committee, Dr. Fatima Abduljabar Al-Kohaji leads the delegation that also comprises member of Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee, Samiah Khalil Al-Moayyad and Assistant Sec-Gen for Media and Researches Affairs, Fawziya Yusuf Al-Jeep.
The Shura delegation also met delegations from Arab, Asian, African and European countries.
The delegation lauded Iceland’s effort in hosting the annual event titled We Can Do It, stressing that global forums provide good opportunities to participating delegations to exchange expertise and learning about the latest tools for the advancement of women, strengthening their presence in leadership positions and their participation in decision-making.
A number of speeches were given focused on challenges faced by women, opportunities available for women to assume leadership posts, in addition to a presentation on progress made by women in various fields.
