A parliamentary delegation led by Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al Mulla will participate in the tenth General Assembly meeting and the second Executive Council meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly on November 21-24 in Istanbul.
The Asian parliamentary activities will be held under the patronage of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The meeting will focus on sustainability of peace and development in Asia, it will also witness the launch of Istanbul Declaration.
MP Abbas Madhi said the meeting will discuss the standing committees reports on Social, cultural, political, economic affairs and sustainable development, as well as employees affairs and financial system.
He stressed the legislative and executive branches’ keenness to implement the sustainable development goals 2030 adopted by the United Nations through the Government Action Plan and Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
He said Bahrain has become a model for tolerance and coexistence, pointing out its keen interest in boosting cooperation in the field of sustainable development and peace in Asia in particular and the world in general.
He underlined the royal initiative to launch the Bahrain Declaration as a global document to promote religious freedom, and the inauguration of King Hamad Global Centre for Interfaith Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence in the United States, which highlights Bahrain as a country of friendship, peace and tolerance and a bridge of harmony among communities.
