Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar noted that the Bahrain Handball Association (BHA)’s winning the best handball association in Asia in 2017 underlines the successes achieved by the national association, regionally and internationally.
The award was presented recently during the 21st general assembly meeting of the Asian Handball Federation held in Antalya, Turkey.
Askar’s statement was made as he visited the BHA premises where he met handball president Ali Eshaqi to congratulate the association on this honorable achievement as well as Eshaqi winning the vice-president post at the Asian Handball Federation.
Askar expressed pride in the BHA's winning such an award which underlines the well-organised work adopted by the association, headed by its president Ali Isa Eshaqi. He noted that the recent progress made by the association contributed to some impressive achievements, such as the senior and junior national teams reaching this year’s World Championships in France and Georgia, respectively.
Askar also congratulated Eshaqi on being elected as AHF vice-president during the general assembly meeting, which was chaired by AHF president Shaikh Ahmed Al Fahad Al Sabah of Kuwait.
The BOC official noted that this win reflects the continued support of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President to all national sports federations.
