The Labour and Social Development Ministry underlined Bahrain’s annual participation in the celebration marking the Universal Children’s Day and the World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse which are observed on November 19 and 20, in line with a recommendation by the United Nations General Assembly in 1954. The event is considered as an opportunity to re-assert the need to prevent violence against children and provide them with a secure environment for their upbringing by shedding light on main programmes and challenges and taking the necessary procedures to protect the children’s interest and promote their welfare.
In a statement marking the occasion, the ministry underscored the great care given by Bahrain to children, citing measures taken to protect them and boost their well-being. It stressed that thanks to the directives and support of Bahrain leadership, the kingdom has been able to make big strides in improving the children’s conditions at all levels. It reiterated constant keenness to protect the children’s rights and preserve achievements in this respect. It also pointed out the importance of bolstering social awareness through various mass media concerning the prevention of child abuse, emphasising the need to teach children how to benefit from social media networks and clarify the risks surrounding them.
