A police officer in Istanbul was killed late on Sunday after being stabbed by a Daesh suspect, reported state news agency Anadolu, citing police sources.
The agency said that Istanbul anti-terror police had arrested the suspect during an operation against Daesh earlier in the day, reportedly in preparation of a bomb attack.
The suspect was later taken to Istanbul Police Headquarters where he attacked the police officer who was taking him to detention room with a knife.
The injured police officer was taken to hospital with serious injuries, and later succumbed to his wounds, the agency said.
The suspect was shot dead by other police officers, added Anadolu.
