The Egyptian authorities will reopen Rafah border crossing Egypt with Gaza next week, said Palestinian News Agency (WAFA). Cairo authorities informed the Palestinian Authority (PA) that they have decided to open Rafah border crossing to allow movement of Gaza Palestinians in and out of the besieged Strip.
This is the second time Egypt reopens Rafah border crossing ever since the Palestinian Authority took control on the 1st of November. Egypt last Saturday opened the crossing for three consecutive days.
Humanitarian cases including Palestinian students, holders of residency permits in other countries and patients seeking treatment outside Gaza, are allowed to travel abroad or to return home.
The Palestinian Authority, chaired by President Mahmoud Abbas, regained control of Gaza Strip, including the border crossings, following the signing of the Egypt-brokered reconciliation agreement which was signed last October.
