Twenty-eight Indonesian farm workers escaped unhurt in a fire involving three blocks of 'kongsi' houses at Ladang Sungai Bebar Selatan, Nenasi, here, about 9am today.
Nenasi Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohd Fadzirllah Zainal Abidin said the fire believed to have started from the kitchen of a house at the corner block was brought under control by firefighters at 10.12am, before the operation concluded at 12.15pm.
"Each block has six houses. The fire spread quickly as the houses were made from wood. The firefighters also took time to get into the farm because it was quite far from the main road and it only had a laterite road. They also used water from a drain at the oil palm plantation," he said to reporters, here today
