An official statistic in Khartoum showed that the number of Sudanese enrolled in ISISI organization in Syria and Iraq reached 90 Sudanese, including 50 in Syria and Iraq, and 40 in Libya. Statistics showed that 37 of these were university students. The number of Sudanese killed in fighting alongside the terrorist organization was estimated at about 70 in both Libya and Iraq.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Sudan, reported it is subjecting the curriculum to control and revision of the impurities to secure students and keep them away from extremism. Higher Education Minister, Sumaya Abu Kashwa, said her ministry's mission is to protect the students as the incubators of the transmission of thought to the generations, through monitoring and revision of curricula to keep them away from extremism through dialogue with partners.
In addition, the Sudanese authorities have begun developing a plan to secure, defend and develop the Red Sea coasts in various aspects, agreed at a meeting of the National Defense and Security Council headed by President Omar al-Bashir in the presidential palace before heading to Morocco. The Council is scheduled to discuss at a future meeting how to deal with issues related to national security and reviewing what has been done with regard to ensuring the security of the Red Sea, its importance and its links to security, trade, maritime navigation, military deployment and the resulting threats.
"The meeting discussed the ways of securing and defending the Sudanese coasts and working on their development," said Minister of Presidential Affairs Fadl Abdullah Fadl. He pointed out that the upcoming meetings will address a number of issues that are directly related to the Sudanese national security and how to develop solutions and remedies required at all levels.
