Moroccan police arrested on Wednesday a man with suspected links to the Islamic State (IS) group, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
According to the statement, the suspect, arrested near the northern city of Meknes, was planning to carry out terror attacks against sensitive spots and tourist sites in the country.
The man was engaged in spreading IS ideology and had acquired advanced expertise in using remote explosives, the statement said.
He was about to buy materials used in bomb making, it insisted.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Interior Ministry said it had foiled a dangerous terrorist attack, plotted by the IS group, in the country last Friday.
Morocco is facing a growing threat from the IS. The Interior Ministry revealed that since 2002, more than 160 terrorist cells have been dismantled, which had close ties with terrorist groups active in Iraq and Syria.
