Managing Director of Morocco’s National Railway Office (ONCF), Mohamed Rabie Khlie, was unanimously re-elected as head of the International Union of Railways (UIC) – Africa Region, for a second term (2018-2022).
This re-election was endorsed at the 91st General Assembly of the UIC, ONCF said in a release.
This renewed confidence in Morocco is the recognition of the efforts made by the ONCF, particularly during the last five years on the African continent, in terms of exchange of experiences with other rail networks and the support provided to them to modernize and develop their networks, the source added.
The ONCF also adopted several initiatives aimed at strengthening South-South cooperation in the rail sector, the statement said.
The UIC aims at promoting rail transport at world level with the objective of optimally meeting current and future challenges of mobility and sustainable development and developing all forms of international cooperation among members.
