At least 15 people were killed and more than 40 wounded on Tuesday in a car bomb explosion at a crowded marketplace in northern Iraq, a provincial police source told Xinhua.
The blast took place in the city of Tuz-Khurmato in northern Iraqi province of Salahudin on Tuesday afternoon when a booby-trapped car detonated at a popular vegetable market in the city, which located some 90 km east of the provincial capital city of Tikrit, the source said on condition of anonymity.
The toll could rise as ambulances and civilian cars evacuated the killed and wounded people to several nearby hospitals and medical centers in the city, the source added.
