Bulgaria's upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) would have three pillars, including consensus, competitiveness and cohesion, the country's Government Information Service said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to a draft adopted by the government, the consensus would be focused on security, prevention of radicalization, migration and so on.
Meanwhile, the second pillar, competitiveness, would be geared towards the single market and supporting entrepreneurship.
It would also focus on topics such as deepening the economic and monetary union, and improving environmental sustainability, the statement said.
The third pillar would be directed to the EU cohesion policy after 2020, EU's structural and investment funds, as well as simplifying and modernizing the Common Agricultural Policy.
The final program and priorities of the Bulgarian EU presidency will be approved at the end of 2017 after a wide public debate, the statement said.
Bulgaria will chair the Council of the EU in the first half of 2018.
