Egypt has made progress in the course of democratic transition after the ratification of the Egyptian constitution and election of the new parliament, Dutch Ambassador to Egypt Gerard Steeghs said on Wednesday night.
Addressing a ceremony that was held at the Dutch Embassy in Cairo on the occasion of the National Day of the Netherlands, Steeghs noted that Egypt will remain an "important partner" of his country.
He also praised the significant role played by the Dutch companies to finalize the new Suez Canal project in a record time.
Steeghs congratulated the Egyptian government and people on winning a non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council.
He underlined that his country contributed to promoting sustainable development in Egypt through offering academic programs and stimulating small- and medium-sized enterprises.
