Iran's judiciary has sentenced a person to death for spying for Israeli Mossad intelligence agency, Prosecutor General Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi said on Tuesday.
"The person has been convicted to death because of cooperation with Mossad intelligence agency," Dolatabadi was quoted as saying by ISNA news agency.
"One of the charges against the person was providing the address and names of 30 Iranian nuclear and military researchers to Mossad officers," Dolatabadi said, adding that it has led to the assassination of some of the Iranian scholars.
Dolatabadi said that the convict has confessed to his charges and has expressed "regret" over his role in the assassination of some of the Iranians.
"The person has also said that he had held several meetings with eight Mossad officers and transferred sensitive information pertaining to the activities in the Iranian military sites and Iran's Atomic Energy Organization," Dolatabadi said.
In return, he received money and a promise for being granted a Sweden residence permit, the Iranian judiciary official said without elaborating on the name or the nationality of the convict.
