The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation began today the distribution of new emergency relief aid to the Somali families in Berbera, a city in the northwestern Berbera District of Somaliland.
The move follows the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to help the Somali people and alleviate their sufferings.
A spokesperson of the Khalifa Foundation said that as per the directives of the wise leadership, 1,000 food baskets were distributed to the residents of two villages in the city of Berbera, which is part of an initiative to distribute 5,000 food baskets containing basic food items in various regions and villages of Berbera.
The beneficiaries expressed their thanks and appreciation for the UAE and its leadership for their relief efforts, amid at alleviating the sufferings of the population in dire need for food.
