Morocco and Sierra Leone examined, on Saturday in Freetown, means to boost economic relations.
This came during an economic forum that brought together a Moroccan delegation composed of forty business leaders and Sierra Leonean officials from the public and private sectors.
“We, public and private economic operators representing several sectors of activity, are today for the first time in Freetown, for an economic forum held under the effective presidency of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone,” chairwoman of the Moroccan employers’ association (CGEM), Miriem Bensalah Cheqroun, told the press.
The visit to this African country is meant to give new impetus to South-South partnership, as advocated by HM King Mohammed VI, she added.
For his part, the head of cabinet of the Sierra Leonean president said that “we are pleased to welcome this delegation from the Kingdom of Morocco and we hope that this meeting will contribute to improving trade relations for the benefit of both sides.”
The forum highlighted Sierra Leone’s investment opportunities in terms of public-private partnership (health, agriculture, energy, Transport, etc.) and private-private partnership (commercial banks, insurance, economic housing, etc.).
It was also marked by cluster discussions on mining, trade, business climate, tourism, transport, energy, financial institutions, agriculture and fisheries.
