The newly appointed Joint Special Representative of the African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), Jeremiah Kingsley Mamabolo, expressed pleasure over assuming his new mission in Darfur, commending understanding and cooperation of Government of Sudan with the Mission , a matter which helped it boost peace and stability in Darfur.
This came when the Undersecretary of Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Abdul-Ghani Al-Naeem met at the Ministry, Tuesday, with Mr.Kingsley.
The Undersecretary affirmed the Government would cooperate with UNAMID to carry out its task as it was required , indicating to importance of working together during the coming stage to implement UNAMID exit strategy and to mobilize the international support towards development and reconstruction fields in Darfur.
He indicated to importance of exerting more efforts to convince the armed movements to sign deal of cessation of hostilities and to join peace process and to enter the political work from within.
Ambassador Abdul-Ghani pointed out that reports presented by UNAMID to UN Security Council and African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC) displayed the positive transformation occurred in Darfur during the past period that led to improvement of security and humanitarian situation in the region, stressing that all member states of the two Councils appreciated positive steps taken to achieve comprehensive peace in Darfur and in the Country as a whole.
