Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has urged Western powers to focus on issues of international convergence instead of divisive politics that threatens world peace.
Museveni in an article he wrote and was distributed to media houses on Feb. 17 said 'Western Liberals' continue to make historical mistakes by trying to impose all their views and values on everybody in the world.
He said such issues are to do with family, forms of democracy, homosexuals, central planning versus economic liberalization.
Museveni argued that these generate divergence and conflict in handling international affairs.
He said there are matters that the world should instead focus on and these include fighting extremism and terrorism, modern education in natural sciences and social sciences, the emancipation of women, and trade among others.
He said the Liberal's continued attack on Russia and China in handling international affairs is counter-productive noting that these countries have been critical in helping millions of people out of poverty in Africa.
He said these countries were also critical in helping Africa fight colonialism and its evils that were imposed by the Western Liberals.
He said forcing Russia to submit to the dictates of the West is breeding danger for international peace.
He noted that Russia is a major power that has made positive contribution to global peace, a move that the West should instead applaud instead of condemning.
"The Communists developed Russian technology and it can develop more. To think that you can trample on Russia like they (West) have been trampling on other unfortunate peoples, is to be very reckless and dangerous to world peace," Museveni said.
He said U.S. President Donald Trump should be hailed for arguing that America should work with Russia to address issues of common concern like terrorism.
