An Israeli airstrike on the house of top Hamas movement leader Khalil al-Hayyah early Sunday killed four people in eastern Gaza city, medics and witnesses said.
Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman for health ministry in Gaza, told reporters that the Hamas leader's son Osama al-Hayyah, his daughter-in-law and two of their children were killed when an Israeli warplane struck their house with missiles.
Meanwhile, Israeli artillery heavily shelled the neighborhood of Sheja'eya in eastern Gaza city, where there are so many casualties after dozens of houses were struck with shells.
Al-Qedra told reporters that the rescue teams and the Red Cross teams were not able to reach the casualties due to the intensive fire from the Israeli army tanks in the area.
While Israel's army tanks were shelling eastern, northern and southern Gaza Strip, its F16 and F22 fighter jets were hovering over the coastal enclave.
Al-Qedra said that the death toll has topped 100 since the start of the Israeli ground operation into the coastal enclave while the number has risen to 252 since the start of the Israeli offensive with 2,600 others injured.
