A 27-year-old Palestinian was moderately injured on Wednesday by Israeli soldiers' gunfire in northern Gaza Strip, medics said.
Gaza health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qedra said in an emailed press statement that the man was shot and injured by Israeli soldiers' gunfire at the outskirts of the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahia.
There has been no immediate comment made by the Israeli army to the incident. However, witnesses said the man was walking close to the beach in northern Gaza Strip and he suddenly received a gunshot.
It is the first shooting incident since an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire deal between Israel and Gaza Hamas-led militant groups.
According to the deal, Israel tightened the no-go zone at the borderline area between Gaza and Israel from 300 meters to 100 meters. The man, who was injured, is a civilian and he was standing more than 300 meters far from the borders, according to witnesses.
Hamas movement had repeatedly complained to Egypt, the major sponsor of the ceasefire, that Israel has been violating the deal by arresting fishermen, opening fire at their boats, bulldozing farms and opening fire at people near the borders.
