Kenya's army says it has killed more than 80 fighters of militant group al-Shabaab in southern Somalia, local newspaper The Standard reported Monday.
According to dpa, the African Union peacekeeping mission in Somalia, AMISOM, conducted airstrikes targeting al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab members in the towns of Anole and Kuday, in the Lower Juba region.
In Anole, AMISOM's Kenyan contingent killed more than 30 al-Shabaab fighters and destroyed three of the group's technical vehicles and one SUV loaded with ammunition, according to the Kenyan army.
In Kuday, meanwhile, Kenyan-led airstrikes killed more than 50 insurgents.
