At least 11 policemen of the Afghan police forces were killed in a coordinated attack by the Taliban militants in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan.
A security official said that 11 policemen were killed together with a commander of the public uprising forces, according to the Afghan (Khaama Press).
According to the local security officials, the attack by the Taliban militants sparked heavy clashes in Nad-e-Ali and Nahr-e-Saraj districts.
Provincial governor's spokesman Omar Zwak confirmed that heavy clashes between the Taliban militants and Afghan police started late on Saturday night and sporadic clashes still continue between the two sides.
The Taliban insurgents have also suffered casualties but the exact number is not clear so far.
The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the clashes so far.
